Mission statement: http://www.heroesintraining.org/ is a non-profit 501( c )3 organization designed to unite adults and children with disabilities through a mentoring program.
When www.HeroesInTraining.org founder, Randy Alexander, was growing up with Cerebral Palsy, he was always the first. He was the first child with a disability to attend “regular” schools in Nashville. He was the only handicapped person to play organized baseball and soccer. No one like him had been skipped a grade in school or had so many surgeries.
Randy vowed to help future generations of handicapped children through his experiences. As he grew older, he saw the world become more technology and information dependant, opening the door for those with disabilities to be the leaders of tomorrow. http://www.heroesintraining.org/ will prepare the children for their roles in the future.
Once an adult, Randy realized that he wasn’t the only trailblazer in the disabled community. Many others had overcome C.P., blindness, M.S, etc. Randy decided to pull these people together and give the disabled children of today what he and his peers never had: someone to talk to that understood. Randy and his fellow volunteers would use their life experiences to help today’s children avoid the obstacles the adults had long since overcome Thus, fulfilling the organization’s mantra:
“Heroes today for heroes tomorrow.”
